I have many categories I’ve created in the hopes that I’ll someday fill them with posts, but this one is the one takes the cake. I’m really hoping I’ll populate this category the most

If you know me, you know how I love to create lists. I create lists about creating lists. And, originally I had created a “100 to 1001″ list. The premise was to name 100 things that you would do in 1001 days (roughly 2.75 years ). I want to avoid the term “bucket list,” since this wasn’t exactly inspired by some chronic desire to avoid my (at the time) dissatisfaction with life. No. Nothing like that. This list was meant to help motivate me to experience new things, increase my own appreciation of life and also improve a little bit about myself in the process (you don’t become a well-rounded person by staying home).

I hadn’t been able to list 100 things, it was a lot tougher than I thought, so I’ve decided to just create a category and post to it whenever I feel there’s something worth remembering. Or, something that elevates my overall understanding of the world or myself.

For the purpose of this blog, I’ll refer to these life events as “joie de vivre.” It’s fitting. Very fitting.

I won’t create a list, because I’m sure I’ll think of things as I go along. But be on the lookout for new posts.

This weekend marks a big occasion this year. It’s Valentine’s Day, Chinese New Year, and Mardi Gras. And above it all, the Saints won the Superbowl. You can bet the streets of New Orleans are teeming with cold sweat, howls of hallelujahs, and a sea of lost and broken beads.

And here I am, sitting, starting up my blog.

I opened my first blog on Livejournal way back in 2001. I used to update frequently, then my postings became infrequent and now I almost never login. I’d like to return to writing more. I think back then, it was easier growing up, since you experience so many new things day-to-day. Now, you have to make time to experience things, see new sights, meet new people. As we get older, we get stuck in our daily routines and lose track of the things that excite, motivate and inspire us. I’m desperately seeking that life again.

So, the hope of this blog is tri-fold:

improve my writing skills

uncover lost passions

inspire others in those passions

Ready? Go!
